Howdy y'all and welcome back to MotoSport.com Gear Head weekly observations! The penultimate round watching, Mookie fever berm railing, Gear Head Ryan Roberts back at it with all the takes from Round 16 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross from Denver, Colorado!

After watching that 450 race, there isn't much to comment other than just a few weeks left until outdoors starts! Jett Lawrence demonstrated a clinic of how to manage a point's lead and was hanging out in second behind his brother Hunter Lawrence, until Jason Anderson started creeping up on Jett and at that moment Jett decided he needed to move and took the lead. I think Jett would have stayed in second and let his brother get the "W" until Jason applied the pressure. I don't think Jett feels any pressure to win this title and didn't even really think he needed the additional 3 points for the win versus second place. It is cocky but I think he is that confident in himself. Malcolm Stewart had the best highlight reel during the race when he hit a berm 4th gear pinned trying to pass Justin Cooper and it was the coolest thing ever until his bike didn't pop back upright at the end of the berm and the front tire washed out and he went down. That was really the highlight of the race. It was cool to see the two brothers get first and second, and it may never happen again, but interesting to see.

The 250 race wasn't the most exciting race in history but it did have some bits of excitement. It really needed 3 more minutes of racing as during the last lap, Jo Shimoda, Levi Kitchen, and R.J. Hampshire were all within a bike length of each other and going for the win, but just a little too late. Levi getting second and R.J. getting third meant they are tied for the points lead going into the last round of the season. The 250 West race is really the only championship that has big uncertainty going into the final round. The last round being a showdown also adds a lot of drama to the coming weekend. Tom Vialle in the East has a large lead, and he will just be looking to stay out of trouble and finishing with enough points to win. Levi and R.J. will just be racing to beat the other guy so the winner of the final round could be someone no one has picked.

The tracks this year continue to be a point of contention. This was just not a good track and lots of flat turns and not many options to pass. I don't know how to fix this issue, but something needs to be done about it. I am not sure if they have had the same person designing tracks the last several years, but maybe it is time to have a new set of eyes look at designing tracks.
