Portland, OR - May 18, 2019 - MotoSport.com celebrates 20 years of serving the powersports industry in 2019 after rising from a small mail-order outlet company to one of the leading online retailers of parts and gear for dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs.

MotoSport.com which began as MotoSport Outlet in the sleepy Washington town of Yakima in 1999 has crossed the 20 year milestone. Now headquartered in Portland, OR, MotoSport founder Bill Butcher moved to Eugene, OR in 2001 to accommodate a job change for his wife and before long jumped from leasing a 12,000 square foot space to a 27,000 square foot pad by 2003. At the time, he had reluctantly agreed to start selling online - comprising about 30 percent of all sales at the time - preferring to focus on the half a million 100-page plus catalogs mailed yearly.

Butcher, a former motorcycle racer, started MotoSport Outlet after trying to get reasonably priced parts at a local dealer in a reasonable amount of time. But the cost and a three-week delay led him to open what eventually would become MotoSport.com. Today, MotoSport has transitioned from a local parts store and catalog mail order to now selling mostly online, delivering parts and gear to customers within three days of the purchase. Butcher has long since left the company as MotoSport joined the Backcountry.com family nearly six years ago and has fully footed itself as the nation's leading powersports parts, gear and supplies company.

"MotoSport has seen a pretty tremendous evolution over the years," said Darren Green, who started in the call center 12 years ago and is now Director of Marketing. "I think we have successfully built on the legacy born 20 years ago and continue to pave our own path just like how the company started."

One thing that remains from the beginning is a call center staffed with riders who can give customers sound advice when ordering. That was part of the "niche" Butcher wanted for his company that anyone who answers the phone rides and races motorcycles.

"Since I started, MotoSport has always strived to offer the best parts and gear in the industry, and help our customers make the best buying decision based on their level of skill and type of riding, be it a dirt bike, street bike or ATV," said Greg Burnett, who started in the warehouse 17 years ago and now serves as Director of Merchandise. "A lot of things have changed over the years but we always put the rider first."

MotoSport also continues to invest in its core business having fielded Team MotoSport Outlet for Motocross and Supercross in 2003 to just this month finalizing a three year deal as the Official Online Retailer of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series.

"MotoSport has always given back to the sport and as we grow and expand our customers can expect our support to grow and expand as well." Green said. "We plan on being around for a long time to come always striving to provide the best customer service with the best prices and reliable delivery just as it was from the beginning. We have many customers still with us from the first day we opened the door, a few employees too, and I just know they'll be here to help us celebrate our 40th anniversary.

To celebrate 20 years, MotoSport will give away a 1999 Ricky Carmichael replica KX 125 as a way to honor the past and an upgraded (using parts sold on MotoSport.com, of course) 2019

KX 250 to demonstrate the evolution of the sport. For a chance to win either one of these two bikes in addition to a set of head-to-toe Fox Racing gear, visit MotoSport.com/WIN to enter to win.

About MotoSport.com

MotoSport was founded in Yakima, WA in 1999 by a gentleman named Bill Butcher.

Bill loved riding motorcycles and raced in the expert class in the super competitive AMA District 13 in the late 70s and early 80s. He ultimately founded MotoSport because he believed he could provide a better service to his fellow powersports enthusiasts than the vast majority of local dealers and because he had always dreamed of one day combining his passion with his business prowess. He built the foundation of the business upon a single shared passion for motorcycles and the rest is history, as they say.

Now well into our second decade, MotoSport continues to lead the powersports industry in selection, quality, expertise and customer service. When you call for help or advice you'll actually talk to someone who owns, rides and wrenches on a dirt bike, street bike, ATV or side-by-side. You won't find a more knowledgeable staff of Gearheads or a more devoted customer base because those who rely on us for their parts and gear know that with MotoSport, the loyalty is mutual. Our competitive pricing and wide selection of products means you can grab everything from that impossible-to-find OEM bolt to the latest and greatest motorcycle helmet and have it all on your doorstep in days. Were passionate about what we sell because what we sell is fun.
