Howdy y'all and welcome back to MotoSport.com Gear Head weekly observations! This tied for the championship lead Gear Head Ryan Roberts back at it with all the takes from Round 13 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross from Foxborough, Massachusetts!

What an amazing round we had in Boston Saturday night! I can't spell Foxborough very well, so I am calling it Boston. Watching Saturday night, I was worried that the race was going to be a snooze fest because that is how it was shaping up. Heat races were pretty dull, LCQs didn't have any near-death experiences, and 250 main was pretty straightforward. Then the 450 main saved the show! The 450 main was exciting, and the racing was great after Jett Lawrence got a horrible start. This is strange since Jett has dominated starts all season and now, he seems completely mortal and beatable. Cooper Webb has completely erased the gap to first in the championship in 3 races and now is tied for the points lead with 4 rounds to go. I can't remember a championship in recent years being this tight going into the final few rounds.

It still feels like Jett has this under control though. I, and probably a lot of other people, feel like any race Jett is going to take this back over and rattle off several more wins to really get this championship locked down, but the reality is that he hasn't had any massive issues over these three rounds to lose all the points he has. There hasn't been massive mud races, or bike issues and he DNF's a race, Cooper Webb has just been better than him, along with several other riders, to make this a close championship. Jett is a rookie and only two riders have won as a rookie, Ryan Dungey and Jeremy McGrath, so history is against him, but Jett does have a lot of the McGrath like qualities when it comes to racing. Not saying he will get 72 wins in Supercross, but he has some of the same qualities MC had.

In the 250 class, Haiden Deegan got his second win of the season and is closing in on the points lead. I think the biggest thing going in the 250 class is next weeks East/West shootout that will be very interesting. I am really looking forward to that race as it will be interesting to see if one coast is truly more dominant than the other.

It does feel like Cameron McAdoo has this thing under control, but the 250 class can change in a heartbeat. Cameron has been known to have moments of disaster and it wouldn't be unexpected if he did have one at one of the final rounds.
