The 2018 Monster Energy Supercross season started on Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. It marked the return of Ken Roczen who nearly lost his arm last year after a brutal crash at Anaheim 2 as well as the absence of four-time Champion Ryan Dungey who called it quits after last year's title victory.

Marvin Musquin grabbed the win in the 450 class followed by Jason Anderson and Justin Barcia. Eli Tomac, a heavy favorite for the Championship, took the holeshot and checked out for seven laps before a crash resulted in a shoulder contusion ending his night and possibly hopes for the 450 class Supercross title which he lost by just five to Dungey last year.

In the 250SX West class, Shane McElrath made it back-to-back with his second straight A1 victory while defending Champion Justin Hill had an off night finishing seventh. Aaron Plessinger took second, as he did last year and Adam Cianciarulo finished third.
