2020 Spring Creek Motocross Recap
Zach Osborne won't be running away with the title as a flat tire in Moto 2 and a Round 6 sweep of the 450 class by Adam Cianciarulo shook up the points for the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series on Saturday at Spring Creek National in Millville, MN.
Osborne (4-16) nursed a flat tire to 16th place in the second race and salvaged some points for a 10th overall but Cianciarulo moved from third-place in the standings 42 points out of first-place entering Round 6 to second-place and just 15 points back of Osborne. Marvin Musquin (3-10), who experienced bike troubles of his own in Moto 2 after finishing in third for Moto 1, falls to third-place despite shaving eight points off his deficit to Osborne and sits 20 points out of the top spot.
The rookie Cianciarulo has clawed his way back into contention after crashing in the second race of the opening round at Loretta Lynn's. He has won three of the last four Motos along with securing two straight overalls. Blake Baggett (2-2) finished second overall reaching the podium for the second straight week and Justin Barcia landed a quiet third-place on a (5-4) day. Chase Sexton (8-3) finished fourth while three-time defending Champion Eli Tomac took fifth and remains in fourth-place but 39 points behind Osborne.
The 250 class offered some stellar racing from the two points leaders who battled for the Red Plate in Moto 2 with the checkered flag going to Dylan Ferrandis, who swept the class and takes back the points lead from Martin, who took it from Ferrandis after sweeping Round 4 at Redbud. Both riders battled to the end in the second race with less than a half second between the two once the checkers waved. Despite a fifth in Moto 1, Martin (5-2) secured second overall, but drops three points out of first-place. Alex Martin (4-4) took third overall while Jett Lawrence (3-6) and Justin Cooper (9-3) rounded out the Top 5, respectively.
