Heath Harrison and Travis Sewell continued their dominance on the 2015 MotoSport.com AX Tour with each rider posting wins in Round 2 held on Saturday at Western Kentucky University's L.D. Brown Ag Expo Center in Bowling Green, KY.
Harrison took the coveted "Clash for Cash" event again and added a checkered flag in the AX Pro class. The veteran rider made it look easy this time in the high-cash payout "Clash for Cash" round by grabbing the holeshot and never looking back. In Round 1 he battled his way through the pack to take the win. Harrison needed the LCQ round to qualify for the AX Pro class event but he rode in dominating fashion for his first win of the season in that class.
Sewell, who swept Round 1 in the AX Pro and AX Pro Lite classes, just missed the holeshot this time around in the AX Pro Lites but managed to work his way around Josh Cartwright for the lead and the win. Sewell, who took third place two weeks ago in the "Clash" event finished second to stay close in the point standings with Harrison. Sewell also took fourth in the AX Pro event.
Cartwright raced in all three events as he did in Round 1 and finished in fourth in the Lites class, fifth in the Pros and third in the "Clash" - a nice bump from his ninth spot in Round 1 for the Main event. Luke Vonlinger, who took second in both classes in the last round and fourth in the "Clash" event, grabbed second in the AX Pro Lites and fifth in the Clash this time around.
The Clash for Cash event brings the Top 10 riders from the AX Pro and AX Lites races to compete head-to-head in a 20-lap main event. Riders earn points in each class as well as the Clash for Cash, which offers the highest payout of all the races. The new AX Tour season is capitalizing on last year's record breaking turn-out as more than 30 riders entered for both the AX Pro and AX Pro Lites classes. Additionally, more than $175,000 in cash and contingencies is up for grabs this year.
The MotoSport.com AX Tour takes Thanksgiving Week off and returns with Round 3 on Dec. 6 at the Batesville Civic Center in Batesville, MS. Advance tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under. Day of show tickets cost $18 for adults and $12 for children 11 and under.
