The 2015 MotoSport.com AX Tour resumed on Saturday after a three week holiday break with Round 5 in Jackson, MS and Heath Harrison turned in another dominating performance to win the coveted "Clash for Cash" event.
The win marks five straight rounds for Harrison who grabbed the holeshot and pulled away from the pack with Mitchell Harrison in tow. Travis Sewell finished in eighth-place marking his first time off the podium in the "Clash" event this year but he took the top spot in the AX Pro class for his third win in that race. Sewell was also perfect in the AX Pro Lites class through Round 4 and won the second Heat in Round 5 to qualify for the AX Pro Lites Main event but was unable to carry over the magic and didn't even finish in the Top 10.
Mitchell Harrison made it a podium hat trick as he took first in the AX Pro Lites class, third in the AX Pro class and runner-up in the Clash event. Also new to the Clash podium was Dave Ginolfi who took third. Josh Cartwright continued his excellent year by taking third in the AX Pro Lites class and second in the AX Pro class.
Heath Harrison now has 125 points in the Clash standings and extended his lead to 26 over Sewell who keeps a comfortable lead over Cartwright for second place. Ginolfi's third-place finish brings him into the Top 10 overall in ninth place.
The Clash for Cash event brings the Top 10 riders from the AX Pro and AX Lites races to compete head-to-head in a 20-lap main event. Riders earn points in each class as well as the Clash for Cash, which offers the highest payout of all the races. The new AX Tour season is capitalizing on last year's record breaking turn-out as more than 30 riders entered for both the AX Pro and AX Pro Lites classes. Additionally, more than $175,000 in cash and contingencies is up for grabs this year.
Round 6 of the 2015 MotoSport.com AX Tour is 7 p.m. Saturday at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, TN. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in advance online or day of at the box office, 304B W. Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro, TN.
