Howdy y'all and welcome back to MotoSport.com Gear Head weekly observations! This is the fully tanned Gear Head Ryan Roberts back at it with all the takes from Round 8 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross from Daytona, Florida!

So, I hate to be that guy, but I am going to be that guy and come out with guns a blazing with takes today. Unless Jett gets hurt, this series is over. Yeah, I said it. Not quite halfway through the series and second place only ten points down, I am calling it over. Jett is obviously head and shoulders better than the rest of the class and when he gets a lead it is only how much he wants to win by and not whether someone will catch and pass him. This wreaks of McGrath in the 90's and I remember as a kid going to the local track on Sundays and just asking how much McGarth won by the night before and not if he won. Okay, we aren't totally to McGrath in the 90's, but this has all the same symbolism that we saw with McGrath from the nineties when it almost felt he could win at will. It does feel like unless Jett yard sales the race he is going to win. He didn't win Dallas but only because he went down with 2 laps to go. The mud races I throw out as outliers since those are just who gets a start and survives. It is Jett's series to lose and I will stand by that unless proven wrong, and in the event that does happen, disregard everything.

Maybe if Chase gets healthy and can ride during the week, he might be able to give Jett a challenge, but as things sit right now there is no way he can get close to winning. Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb might be able to win if Jett has serious issues and all the stars align (Stars align Star Yamaha, get it!), but I don't see them beating Jett straight up. On the podium Tomac said he should have jumped the quad earlier and he could have raced with Jett, but I think he is just telling himself that to keep up his confidence. Jett had, and always seems to have, another gear he can go into and keep everyone at bay.

In the 250 class, I don't know what to say. This class is all over the map and I have no idea who will win, and that makes it amazing. Max Anstie leads the series with a 2-6-8 after three races. That must be the worst three finishes to lead a series ever after three rounds. 250 East is a train wreck that I want to see on a permanent loop. Haiden Deegan did a weird 360 during his heat race and after he almost died in qualifying to salvage a fifth. Tom Vialle wins it after almost dying last year at Daytona. Everyone was flying off the track during the race and overall, it was just a wild night and a wild series so far and I can't get enough of it.

Pierce Brown is second in the points with 5-5-5 finishes, so at least he is consistent. Cameron McAdoo is also tied for second with Vialle in fourth, three points behind Max. I am disappointed that Max made a late pass to go up by one point, otherwise we could have had a three-way tie for the lead and that is something this series deserves!
