MotoSport rider Gared Steinke followed up a difficult night of racing on Friday for Round 2 of the 2015 AMOIL Arenacross series with a fifth-overall on night two giving him enough points to reach the Top 10 in the Championship standings.

Grand Rapids, Michigan hosted two races (four Motos) for Round 2 putting lots of points on the line and after Night 1 with Team Babbitt once again sweeping the podium it looked to be another winning round for the team that consists of Zach Ames, Jacob Hayes, Matt Goerke and Chris Blose. However, Ames, who entered the event in second for points, crashed in practice and sat out of competition. But teammates Hayes and Blose provided enough electricity in Moto 1 on Friday after Hayes made a mistake on Lap 6 allowing Blose, the overall winner for Round 1, to catch up. The teammates fought bar-to-bar for nine more laps before Hayes pulled out his second straight win.

In Moto 2 on night one, it was Kyle Regal, who MotoSport sponsored last year during the remaining few weeks of Supercross, taking the early lead and his first Main event win of the season. Hayes took second in Moto 2 for the overall and Regal posted an overall in second-place after combining his fifth-place finish in Moto 1 to his win in Moto 2. Goerke went (3-3) on the night for third overall.

Steinke went (15-13) for 14th overall after a couple of crashes. He was running sixth in Moto 1 and crashed trying to pass Regal for fifth. In Moto 2, Steinke got taken out in the second corner.

Night two was a bit different for all riders. Blose sat out of Saturday racing after a crash on Friday and it was Gavin Faith, who wasn't even in the Top 10 for points, going (1-2) and taking first overall and his first career Arenacross win. Goerke took second in Moto 1 while Steinke ended in fourth. Steven Mages took first in Moto 2 grabbing a second-place overall after a fifth-place finish in Moto 1. Steinke was sixth for his season-best fifth overall.

"It was the first night he was able to stay out of trouble," said MotoSport.com/Lauerman MX Team Manager Kirk Lauerman who described the series thus far as chaotic. "The best part is that he's now inside the Top 10 in points so he is on his way back to the front."

Daniel Blair, who also rides for the MotoSport team, is racing in the East Lites class but not for points as he'll officially compete in the West Lites class. Blair managed a respectable eighth for night one after crashing and then took his first podium of the year after finishing in third place for night two.

"It was a solid weekend of riding for both riders and I couldn't be happier for the team," Lauerman said.

Elsewhere in the East Lites class which only has one Moto each night, Mitchell Harrison took first on Friday and Darian Sanayei took the top spot on Saturday. Daniel Herrlein took second for both nights. Josh Cartwright was third on Friday. Both Harrison and Cartwright left the MotoSport.com AX Tour to take up AMSOIL Arenacross. Sanayei holds on to a three point first-place lead over Herrlein. Dave Ginolfi, who also left the AX Tour, is in third for points.

Arenacross Round 3 features two nights of professional racing starting 7 p.m. Friday at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, CO. This stop is also the first round of the Western Region Lites class. Buy tickets online or at the box office, 3185 Venetucci Blvd in Colorado Springs, CO.
